Young ChangeMakers Program

Join us for a 4-day program for the leaders, innovators and thinkers of tomorrow.

If you're a Year 11 student with big ideas and ambitions, join us for a 4-day program for people just like you. You'll connect with other Young ChangeMakers, think critically about local and global issues and develop leadership and communication skills. The program includes:

  • a 4-day (3-night) stay at UQ’s St Lucia campus
  • a peek into university life, with a comprehensive itinerary that includes interactive faculty workshops, inspiring keynotes and cultural, sporting and social activities.
  • a Young ChangeMakers reunion at UQ Open Day (2026).

Program dates

The program runs Sunday 30 November – Wednesday 3 December 2025.

Applications close 21 September 2025.

Program highlights

As a Young ChangeMaker, you’ll take part in activities that ignite your passion for coming up with innovative ideas and creating change in your community and the wider world.

Our student mentors and dedicated staff are available to support you during your stay and throughout the program.

Connect with the UQ academic community through immersive study area workshops.

Explore real world issues

Learn how to think critically in an interdisciplinary environment about issues like climate change and international conflict.

Stay on campus

You'll have an individual room for 3 nights at Cromwell College, one of UQ's residential colleges.

Be inspired

Hear from visionary keynote presenters and connect with other Young ChangeMakers.

Cost

The program cost is $520. This includes all activities, meals and accommodation.

Transport to and from UQ is not included in the cost.

Financial hardship

You may be eligible for a program fee waiver (this means UQ will cover the cost of the program for you).

You'll need to provide supporting documentation about your financial hardship during the application process.
